ISE II Personal Values and Ideals – A Reading and Writing Lesson

ISE II Personal Values and Ideals Lesson

What are your personal values and ideals?

In this download, you can find a long reading and extended writing lesson about the topic of PERSONAL VALUES AND IDEALS to help your ISE II students prepare for the personal values and ideals subject area and the ISE II exam. The lesson involves reading, writing and speaking about personal values and how to determine what they are.

How to use the ISE II Personal Values and Ideals Lesson

The lesson starts with a brief discussion about ideals and how these effect the way a person lives their life.

The next part of the class is a long reading activity about how to decide what your personal values are. The reading is an ISE II style reading activity – the students match titles to paragraphs, they find true statements and they have to complete sentences with a few words from the text.

After completing the reading, there are some speaking activities where the students discuss their reactions to the text, and then the writing question is introduced and the students have to do some planning activities. This will help them with the writing task.

Finally, the students complete the writing task which is an email to a friend about personal values. You might find this free download of useful phrases for writing informal letters and emails useful.
