ISE I Rules and Regulations Lesson: An integrated skills lesson

ISE I Rules and Regulations Lesson

In this PDF download, you can find an integrated skills lesson to use with your Trinity ISE I students. The subject area is Rules and Regulations and the lesson is about school rules and dealing with behaviour in schools.

How to use the ISE I Rules and Regulations Lesson

The lesson begins with a brief discussion about some strange rules and regulations from around the world. The students have to rank the rules in order of ‘strangeness’ and compare with other students. They also focus on the language used to express laws and regulations.

In the next part of the lesson, the students have to complete an ISE style long reading task. There is a text about rules in schools and the students have to complete 15 questions – 5 paragraph heading questions, 5 find the true statement questions, and 5 sentence completion questions.

Following this, there is a further discussion where students react to what they have read in the text. Then there is an extended writing task where students write a formal letter to the principal of a school about the rules in the school. You can use this free handout with useful language for writing formal letters to help them. This will all help the students to consolidate the language of the grade and improve their skills for the ISE I exam.

Enjoy using the lesson :) You can download it by clicking on the red button below.
