How to use the ISE I Learning a Foreign Language Lesson
The lesson starts with a brief discussion about foreign language learning, the languages that are popular and the languages the students are learning.
The next part of the class is a multi-text reading activity about the languages that are popular with learners. The reading is an ISE I style reading activity – the students match sentences to the texts, they find true statements and they have to complete the summary notes with a few words from the text.
After completing the reading, the reading into writing question is introduced and then the students have to do some planning activities. This will help them with the writing task.
Finally, the students complete the reading into writing task which is an article about student fitness. You might find this free download of useful phrases for essays useful.
