GESE 4 School and Work Lesson
In this download, you can find an integrated skills lesson about the topic of SCHOOL AND WORK to help your GESE 4 students prepare for the school and work subject area and the GESE 4 exam. The lesson involves reading, writing and speaking about children’s dream jobs.
How to use the GESE 4 School and Work Lesson
The lesson starts with a brief discussion about jobs and the students’ dream jobs. This discussion introduces the concept of ‘dream jobs’ and the types of jobs children would like to have.
The next part of the class is a multi-text reading activity about dream jobs. The reading is an ISE style reading activity – the students match sentences to the texts, they find true statements and they have to complete the summary notes with a few words from the text using a word bank. However, don’t worry if your students aren’t doing an ISE exam and are concentrating on speaking skills. The reading will still help students to develop their overall language skills and widen their vocabulary.
After completing the reading, a reading into writing question is introduced and then the students have to think a little about how to structure and write an article.
Finally, the students complete the reading into writing task which is an article about dream jobs.
